Nelson was born and raised in Levelland, Texas and studied at South Plains College and received a BBA Degree in Accounting from Texas Tech University in 1966. 

Worked as an Accountant for Frito-Lay in Dallas 1968-1975 and then became President-Manager of the Frito Employees Federal Credit 1975-1989. He took early retirement and moved to Burnet with his parents in 1989. He met Raquel in 1991 and they were married in 1994. After they were married they lived in Burnet for a few months and then moved to Raquel’s home in Silver Creek. He was recruited to be the Treasurer for the East Lake Buchanan VFD before they moved to Silver Creek and have been active in community affairs since coming to the Silver Creek area and Nelson received the ELB Community Association “Citizen of the Year” Award in 1998.  

Nelson accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior when he was in High School. Raquel and Nelson joined East Lake Fellowship, formerly The First Baptist Church of Silver Creek and were baptized April 26, 1998. Nelson was ordained as a Deacon on October 22, 2006. In addition to being a Church Deacon, Nelson served as the Church Treasurer 2013-2017, and currently serves as Treasurer. Also, he serves on the Personnel Committee and works in the Audio/Visual booth on a rotational assignment preparing PowerPoint presentations and operating the sound equipment for the Sunday morning worship services.

 Rhonda was born and raised in Littlefield, TX and graduated from Littlefield High School in 1964, married  Leonard  Whitten March 3, 1966. They have a daughter and son, and six grandchildren. Moved to Austin in October 1967 and was a stay at home Mom until the kids were in High School. Moved to Taylor, TX in 1979. Worked at Taylor Sporting Goods for 4 years before moving to Burnet (Silver Creek) in 1994. 


Started coming to East Lake Fellowship in 2008. Accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior October 24, 2010 and joined the church. I have served as the Church Secretary since 2008.
